Idella Reed-Davis began training at the oldest theatrical institution in the Chicagoland area, The Sammy Dyer School of the Theatre. Under the tutelage of Ms. Shirley Hall-Bass, Ms. Murial Wilson-Foster, and Mr. Ted L. Levy, she was exposed to a repository of theatrical knowledge that spans the school's 68 years of operation. A founding member and the artistic director of "Rhythm Iss...", a female tap trio, Ms. Reed is recognized as both a skillful artist and one of Chicago's most sought after tap instructors.

As a choreographer and performer with Rhythm Iss..., Idella has been featured in numerous Tap festivals throughout the United States and Europe including: Heidelberger Steptanz- Festival (Heidelberg, Germany), The Michigan Tap Festival, Tappin' In The Twin Cities (Minneapolis, Minn.), St. Louis Tap Festival (Hosted by Yvette Glover), Jazz Tap Ensemble's Tribute to the Nicholas Brothers (Culver City, California), and the Chicago Human Rhythm Project with such Tap Royalty as Dianne Walker, Lane Alexander, Sam Weber, Van "The Man" Porter, Teddy L. Levy, and Savion Glover.

Although her professional career is blossoming, Idella has sustained a close relationship with the educational aspect of tap dance. She presently has several instructional positions starting with The Sammy Dyer School, Northwestern University of Illinois, and Columbia College Chicago, and conducts Master Classes nationally upon request.
